Two Angels 2005 Syrah - Syrah/Shiraz Red Wine

Red Wine by Two Angels from California. The 2005 vintage has a rich, deep, rich purple-violet color that hints at the fruit and body to follow. Aromas of ripe raspberry, cherry, plum, licorice and a slight smokiness are evidenced in the nose. On the palate, the wine has a supple, balanced mouthfeel and good grip, with flavors that mimic the aromas, plus luscious black cherry preserves. This Syrah finishes with age-worthy tannins but, at the same time, is approachable enough to enjoy now. This vintage was aged for 10 months in predominantly French barrels, then blended with 7% Grenache. The grapes for Two Angels come exclusively from the renowned Shannon Ridge Vineyards on extremely volcanic, red pumice stone terroir. Hugging the mountain rims along the east edge of the new High Valley AVA at close to 2, 200 feet (the highest vineyards in California), the area is reminiscent of the Rhone Valley's Crozes-Hermitage vineyards.
